Floor sawing

Floor Sawing Dubai: Slab Cutting and Removal Guide

A floor saw can produce a fast, accurate line through a concrete slab or pavement, but the blade is only one part of the operation. Reliable floor sawing in Dubai starts with the required opening, slab construction, concealed hazards, water control and the safe removal of every separated panel.

01

Define the finished opening before selecting the saw

The cutting layout should state dimensions, tolerance, depth, intersections and the condition needed by the next trade. The same saw is not automatically suitable for an industrial slab, suspended post-tensioned floor, road pavement or restricted indoor work zone.

Machine size, blade diameter, power, access and production rate should be selected around the verified slab and programme. Edge clearance, ramp access and the route for lifting or processing panels can limit the practical setup more than nominal cutting depth.

  • Opening, trench or removal-panel dimensions
  • Slab thickness, reinforcement and support condition
  • Permitted cutting depth and retained-edge tolerance
  • Machine, lifting and debris access

02

Scan and coordinate post-tension risk

Available structural and MEP information should be reviewed before suitable concrete scanning is completed at the proposed cut. Reinforcement patterns, conduits, embedded services and potential post-tension conflicts need to inform the final set-out.

Scanning is not a substitute for structural approval. Findings and limitations should be recorded, and any change to the opening or cut depth should be coordinated with the responsible engineer before the blade enters the slab.

03

Plan slurry, ventilation and live-site interfaces

Wet diamond sawing cools the blade and controls airborne dust, but it creates water and slurry that can migrate into finishes, equipment, drainage systems or occupied areas. Bunding, wet extraction, local collection and disposal must be ready before cutting starts.

Traffic separation, noise windows, ventilation and emergency access matter on industrial floors and operational sites. The work zone should allow the operator to maintain a stable travel line without conflicting with vehicles, people or removal equipment.

  • Controlled water supply and collection at source
  • Protected finishes, equipment and drainage
  • Barriers around blade travel and panel-release zones
  • Working windows coordinated with site operations
04

Divide, support and remove the slab safely

Cut panels should be sized around weight, support condition and the available lifting or breaking method. Final release cuts should not leave an unrestrained section or transfer unintended load to a retained edge.

The handover should confirm actual cut lines, depth, panel removal and the condition of retained concrete. For a technical floor-sawing proposal in Dubai, provide drawings, slab information, scan requirements, access, working hours, water restrictions and the required removal scope.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01What is floor sawing used for in Dubai?

Floor sawing is used for straight cuts in concrete slabs, industrial floors, roads and pavements, including trench lines, slab openings, panel removal, joints and structural alterations.

02Should a slab be scanned before floor sawing?

Where reinforcement, post-tensioning or concealed services may conflict with the cut, suitable scanning and engineering coordination should be completed before the final set-out is approved.

03How is floor-sawing slurry controlled indoors?

A site-specific setup may combine controlled water feed, bunding, wet extraction and local collection so slurry does not reach occupied areas, finishes, equipment or unsuitable drains.

04Does Arasar provide floor sawing outside Dubai?

Arasar mobilises from Dubai for suitable floor-sawing projects across the UAE. Scope, slab conditions, access, water control and panel-removal requirements are reviewed before mobilisation.

Project note

Guidance is the starting point. The site determines the method.

Every structure, access route and operating environment is different. Final engineering, approvals and controls should be based on verified project information and a site-specific assessment.
