Need an execution contractor?
Diamond wall sawing in Dubai and across the UAE.
This article explains the planning question. For scope review, method selection and a site-specific technical proposal, continue to Arasar's primary service page.
Describe what the opening must accommodate
State whether the work creates a new opening, enlarges an existing one or removes a defined panel. Provide the finished width, height and location from the project detail, with a drawing revision where available. Include wall thickness if known and identify estimates clearly. A door frame or duct dimension may not include all clearances needed by the final installation.
For a proposed MEP penetration, ask the receiving trade to confirm the geometry before it is priced as a wall-cutting package. Circular holes, rectangular openings and continuous separation lines may require different methods. Let the enquiry describe the required result rather than prescribing equipment without a site review.
Identify the structure and the approval route
A photograph alone cannot establish whether a wall, slab or adjoining element is safe to alter. Share available structural and architectural drawings and identify who is responsible for reviewing the proposal. The project team must resolve the opening's effect on the retained structure and any required support or strengthening before the cutting package can proceed.
For projects within its jurisdiction, DDA provides a building modification permit service for completed buildings after the building completion certificate has been issued. The appropriate authority, owner and property-management requirements depend on the site and scope. Verify that route for the actual project rather than assuming every opening uses a full-building demolition permit.
Request scanning evidence and clarify its limitations
Concealed reinforcement, tendons and services can affect a proposed opening. Provide existing scan records or state that detection is part of the required assessment. Hilti's concrete detection documentation describes systems intended to locate objects within concrete; the useful output for a project is an interpreted record of findings and limitations, not simply confirmation that a scanner was used.
Ask how scan results will be related to the marked opening and reviewed against drawings. If information is uncertain or conflicts with the design, the responsible team needs to resolve it. Neither an apparently clear scan nor a contractor's ability to cut concrete is structural permission to remove it.
Compare cutting only with a complete opening package
The quotation should explain what happens to the separated material and what the next trade receives. A price for saw cuts is not necessarily a price for a fully prepared opening. The following checklist helps a client identify missing responsibilities without prescribing the contractor's execution method.
| Item | Information to agree | Potential separate responsibility |
|---|---|---|
| Design and set-out | Approved geometry, references and drawing revision | Structural designer and receiving trade |
| Scanning | Survey extent, marked findings and limitations | Survey specialist and engineering review |
| Support and section handling | Project-specific engineering and removal scope | Temporary works, lifting and handling parties |
| Sawing | Cutting extent, access and agreed finish | Specialist cutting contractor |
| Protection and cleaning | Work area, water collection and occupied interfaces | Cutting package or main contractor |
| Completion | Removal, disposal, edge treatment and records | Making good, frames, MEP and sealing trades |
Explain access and building operations before pricing
Include photographs of the whole work area, the approach route and both sides of the opening where accessible. State the floor level, available working space, known access restrictions and permitted work windows. A cut beside a finished reception area or active venue needs a different scope conversation from an opening in an unrestricted construction zone.
Ask how the proposed package accounts for adjacent finishes, nearby equipment, water or dust constraints and the route for removed material. These conditions affect planning and quotation. If the project remains occupied, the main project team also needs to confirm the interfaces with normal operations.
Use project evidence to assess fit, not to assume identical conditions
Arasar's Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium record describes precision openings and structural alterations around an operational venue. Its photographs and scope provide an example of the kind of work to discuss. They do not establish that another building has the same construction, constraints or programme.
When assessing a cutting contractor, ask for experience relevant to your proposed opening and retained surroundings. Discuss the differences between the reference job and your project, including access, structure, removal and the required finish. This is more informative than selecting on a generic claim of speed alone.
Send a clear request to the Dubai project team
Describe the proposed opening and tell us which documents and approvals are available. An incomplete enquiry can still start a discussion if the missing information is identified. The next step may be a clarification, a site review or coordination with the responsible designer before a cutting proposal can be finalised.
The package should leave everyone clear on the agreed opening, the material removed and the work still assigned to other trades. Confirm acceptance requirements before mobilisation, particularly if the receiving frame, duct, waterproofing or fire-stopping detail imposes a particular finish.

- New opening, enlargement or panel removal
- Marked drawing, dimensions and known thickness
- Available structural review and scan information
- Site photographs, access, floor level and operating restrictions

Frequently asked questions
01Can an opening be cut in a load-bearing concrete wall?
It may be possible only after the responsible engineer has assessed and accepted the proposed alteration and any required support or strengthening. Cutting capability is not approval to change the structure.
02What affects the price of concrete door cutting in Dubai?
Opening geometry, wall thickness, reinforcement information, access, protection, scanning, support responsibilities, material removal and required finish all affect the scope and quotation.
03Does wall cutting include removing the concrete panel?
Only if it is included in the proposal. Ask who handles support coordination, lifting or other section handling, transport, disposal and cleaning.
04Can the opening be cut while a building remains occupied?
Possibly, subject to a project-specific assessment of the structure, operations, access, services and environmental controls. State the occupancy and work windows in the enquiry.

Project note
Guidance is the starting point. The site determines the method.
Every structure, access route and operating environment is different. Final engineering, approvals and controls should be based on verified project information and a site-specific assessment.
