Mistakes before scanning

Poor preparation limits the information that can be collected. The operator needs to know the proposed drilling or cutting area, likely construction and the concealed features of concern.

  • 1. Scanning without a defined opening or bore layout
  • 2. Ignoring drawings and previous alteration records
  • 3. Surveying an area too small to interpret reinforcement patterns

Mistakes during data collection

One-direction passes and inconsistent reference points make anomalies harder to interpret and relocate. Surface obstructions, moisture and congested reinforcement should be recorded rather than silently accepted.
